Glasfryn Fawr is a much loved 5 bedroom 17th Century Farmhouse set on the private Glasfryn Estate looking towards Cardigan Bay. With large lawned gardens and a private lake you are surrounded by woodlands with views across the mountains of Snowdonia. The Glasfryn Estate was the family home of Clough Williams-Ellis whose quirky Italianate village of Portmeirion is only short drive away.
The superb landscaped gardens are delightful at all times of year and are perfect for children to kick a ball around or for the adults to snooze with a book. The picnic table has been a popular addition. Our lovely private lake is used for coarse fishing - you can fish at a small charge. The Patio is perfect for al fresco dining or just relaxing with a glass of wine after a long day at the beach. The huge farmhouse kitchen is the hub of the house and has seating for 10, an Aga and traditional oven (but do try the aga!) – the oak refectory table is perfect for planning the day’s activities.
This leads onto the main living room with woodburning stove and squishy sofas (and even a piano for the musicians among us). A couple of steps lead up to the Snug which is ideal for an “all ages” holiday. There is a small double bedroom downstairs and a brand new wet room. Upstairs are 5 further bedrooms – 2 with double beds, one with 2 singles which zip together to make a king and the master bedroom with en-suite and and handmade tiles by Bronwyn Williams-Ellis. There is an additional family bathroom.
And the gardens.....they wrap around the house and burst into flower throughout the seasons. The rhododendrons are spectacular and certainly keep our gardener busy!
