La Grange

La Grange is an ode to ancient timber, stones and ceramic tiles. Sleeping up to 13 guests, its glorious restoration was done some years ago and the feel is warm, open and natural. The wow factor starts as soon as you approach the house from the sleepy lane with its welcome entrance. The rustic exterior belies the vast, comfortable and inviting spaces inside, and it’s perfect for families; there's a large heated pool, barbecues, games  - indoors and out - and 8 bicycles. The huge sitting room has an equally huge fireplace topped by a gargantuan beam, myriad armchairs and a hunting-lodge atmosphere. The double-height dining room is in lovely old stone and through a rough-hewn ancient door lies the real treasure: the huge, newly extended, beautiful sunny kitchen with all you could need and glorious views.  Wooden floors, large wooden refectory table which is perfect to plan the day’s activities around and an island/breakfast bar for morning coffee. Every possible convenience has been thought of including a great welcome pack of local produce.

Upstairs, bedrooms are done with style and originality; the big master suite is an absolute wow of creative décor and a bath with a view.

There are some fine pieces of furniture, too, in white rooms with knotty pine floors. There are a total of 5 bathrooms – the “new side” has two (one with a bath and shower over and one with a shower cubicle) – the “old side has three (one with free standing bath with shower attachment plus two with shower cubicles).

To the front of the house is the well tended garden with the private, fenced swimming pool. Plenty of poolside and garden furniture from which you can relax and enjoy the ambiance.  Parasols provide shade during the heat of the summer.  The kitchen leads to a sunny courtyard and gardens to the rear of the house.  There are shaded corners, trees to snooze under and views to die for!  For those of you wanting to stay over the winter months (Christmas is simply magical!) there is a good central heating system and piles of logs for the woodburning stoves in the hall and living room.

Our managers are English speakers and know the area inside out with all there is to do in the fascinating Limousin: historic towns, medieval villages, watersports, a country zoo, an astro-farm...

La Grange is set in a delightful rural valley in wooded countryside. Although this is the sleepy part of the Haut Vienne, and the perfect hideaway, there is much to explore in this beautiful area.  Magnac Laval has an old quarter and delightful riverside - good shops and even a Quiz Night in one of the restaurants! Limgoes is definitely worth a visit and is famed for its Porcelain. Also worth visiting are Bellac, Le Dorat and Mortemart. Only 30 minutes away is Lac St. Pardoux with large sandy area, water sports, horse riding and cycling.

Moulin des Combes is a Naturopathic Center with spa, massages, tai chi etc set in an 18th Century Water Mill.  Just 5 minutes down the road.
