FINCA LA HERRERIA
This wonderful, 6-bedroom, family farmhouse nestles among extensive vineyards, gardens, olive groves and orchards close to the pretty whitewashed town of Villablanca in the gloriously unspoiled region of Costa de la Luz in south-west Spain. With over 75kms of beaches just minutes away and the Portuguese border on the doorstep, there is much to explore. We will be offering our guests the opportunity to enjoy yoga and tai chi classes, horse riding on the beach and in-house catering.
The smaller of the two living rooms and dining room is on the ground floor, along with the well-equipped kitchen and three bedrooms. Oak doors lead onto the patio with bistro type furniture. The master bedroom – with it’s wow of a view from the terrace – is upstairs. A few steps lead down to the lower ground floor with the larger living/dining room with its huge picture windows - this resembles a beautiful conservatory where you can all spread out. The gigantic fireplace provides warmth in the winter but also houses a BBQ and roasting spit. This leads onto the terrace surrounding the large, private swimming pool. There are a further two bedrooms on this level – both with French Windows onto the gardens. The finca is full of carefully chosen furniture and furnishings, wall hangings and artwork. This is a much-loved family home rather than a “holiday let” and works equally well for smaller groups or larger extended families/groups of friends.
The whole of this extensive area is fenced, gated and alarmed and you will feel that you have this wonderful area just to yourselves with the only sound being that of birdsong. There are spacious wrap around gardens surrounding the large pool which has steps to the shallow end and a ladder into the deep end. There are olive and palm trees and of course you can pick a lemon for your gin and tonic. Pretty flower filled plant pots add to the charm and the wooden pergola off the larger terrace provides shade in summer. Some of Simone’s collected sculptures decorate the gardens and from here you can look up to the sun deck at the top of the hill where you can enjoy a cocktail whilst watching the sun go down.
Within 20 minutes you can drive to Ayamonte and take the little ferry across the Portugal for just a few Euros. You can fly to either Faro or Seville as the farmhouse is equal distance between the two of them.
